What Teyla Rachel Branton is working on now

What I’ve Just finished

My newest novel Never Letting Go, book 5 in the A Town Called Forgotten series, will be released August 26, 2023. You can read the first chapter here.

So Will the Next Book be a Teyla or Rachel Novel?

While I’m always thinking ahead on plots for both my romance and my sci-fi/fantasy, I usually only do actual writing on one book at a time. I love to immerse myself in the world completely. I usually alternate writing one series for each pen name because it’s just too hard to keep up with all the plots in more than two series. Hower, I recently wrote two closely connected books under Rachel Branton, so I’d planned to plunge into a new Teyla Branton series, writing several in quick succession for my sci-fi and fantasy readers. But now I might do a standalone before that series. Because as I plot and write, my mind keeps going to a post-apocalyptic book that I wrote 50,000 words on several years ago but never finished. I keep wondering what happens! But back to the Teyla Branton series that I’m doing. I won’t spill the beans yet, but it is from one I’ve listed below in Other Upcoming Books.

Other Upcoming Books

I’ve been wanting to write a space opera series surrounding descendents of my Unbounded characters. Another story also keeps running through my head about a family of sisters with abilities (some might call them witches, but it would be more based on magic, not witchcraft), and I’m looking forward to someday telling their strange and fun stories. It’ll be paranormal romance, I think. But will probably end up being suspense and urban fantasy as well, lol.

Thank you for your support. Without my readers, I couldn’t write and publish the stories I love!

So glad to hear this! I’ve been dealing with sore thumbs from my recent move (weird, I know), so I’m slower than normal, but I hope to have book 9 finished soon!

I loved your novels. Although I enjoyed your religious novels, the Imprints series is my favorite. I love them. I havent read the Unbounded, but I’m sure I will like them.

I hope you do more Imprints books. I have enjoyed them in the past and have read nearly all of them to my husband. We are on the last book – “Checked In” and liking it a lot. Your plots keep us guessing and your characters are authentic. It’s obvious that you like to be versatile in your writing. The only problem with that is that you don’t get around to writing more of certain books because you have the Unbounded series or the Romances etc. I guess I’m complaining because there aren’t more Imprints books. I bought the last 2 in the series for my husband for Easter. He was very happy about that. Thank you for what you do write. We have so enjoyed your stories.

Oh my goodness, I am sooooooooo happy you are writing more unbounded! They are my favorite books other than Sarah Eden. I read them once a year. In fact I finished them again tonight, that is why I was on your site. I just started sketches, and I cannot put it down. Thank you so much for what you do and who you are! I really hope Unbounded becomes a set of movies some day. I was actually thinking Helen Mirin would make a fantastic Deliah.

Yay! I’m definitely going to write more. It takes a lot of time to get into each world, though, so that’s why I’m getting in more Imprints books. People have been begging for them for a long time! I thought if I finished 2 or 3 now, it would be easier that switching back and forth. Once I get back into the Unbounded series, I’ll stay there for a while! Thank you for posting!

Hello again, sorry to bug you but I have your Imprints series written under your first name and I am wondering if there is a difference between the “new” Autumn Rain novels and the imprints series. I don’t want to buy more if I already have them. Thanks again!

Erin, the novella First Touch (book 0) is all new and was never published before except under that title by Teyla Branton. The first four full-length novels had name changes when I got the rights back from my former publisher (that was the deal I made with them). So here are the new titles with the old ones in parenthesis: Touch of Rain (Imprints), On the Hunt (Shades of Gray), Upstage (Final Call), Under Fire (Line of Fire), and Blinded (still Blinded because the publisher didn’t do that one). Then Street Smarts is also all new (written this year under Teyla Branton), as is book 7 Hidden Intent, which is the book on this page. I just finished it, and it’ll be out at the end of February. Tracy’s name was also changed to Paige (she’s Shannon’s partner) in the new series because the name interfered with one of the other characters in the earlier books. So be aware of that. Hope this helps!

I am so sorry I was being pushy. Sometimes I just get so excited and I tend to forget people have lives and don’t sit around waiting to E-mail me back 5 minutes after I message them. I should have given you time to answer one before I bugged you somewhere else. Thanks for answering my questions, you really are amazing! I just want you to know I have been reading your books since college. I have an amazing Rachel shelf. Thanks for all you do! I cant wait to see what else is percolating in that wonderful brain of yours!

          • Teyla Rachel Branton

Haha, Erin, I think it’s great you contact me more places. Because, seriously, sometimes I’m so caught up in imaginary worlds that I don’t see emails or posts. I’m also really glad you love all my books. Sometimes this is a hard business, and readers like you make the effort worth it on the days we’re ready to go get a “real” job with health insurance. So THANK YOU!
